Privacy policy

Vidyavo is free for everyone who uses it. We earn from advertising bought by education companies, never from selling anything about you. This page says plainly what we hold.

What we collect

• Your account: email address, and a password stored only as an irreversible hash (argon2id) — we cannot read it. If you sign in with Google we store your Google account identifier instead.
• Phone number, if you give one: stored, never shown on any public page, never sent to advertisers.
• What you publish: questions, answers, job applications, reviews and the school pages you edit. These are public by design.
• Usage: which pages were viewed, from which kind of device, and where the visit came from.

What we deliberately do not collect

• No third-party trackers. There are no Facebook pixels, no Google Analytics, no advertising cookies anywhere on this site. Our own analytics are first-party.
• No tracking cookies. The only cookie we set is the one that keeps you signed in, plus a short-lived one during Google sign-in.
• No raw IP addresses. IPs are hashed before storage, and the hashing salt is thrown away every 24 hours — so the hash cannot be reversed or linked across days.
• No selling or sharing of personal data. Advertisers get anonymous, aggregate counts. They never receive your identity, email or phone number.
• No behavioural advertising to minors. Accounts belonging to children see contextual ads only — chosen by the page's subject, never by who is reading it.

Contact details are shared only with consent

We never hand out a phone number because someone clicked a button. Anyone wanting to reach a school or a teacher must state why; the owner of that number approves or declines; only then is it shown. Every release is logged. You can decline any request without giving a reason.

How long we keep things

• Raw page-view records: 24 hours. They are deleted automatically; only anonymous hourly totals survive.
• Product activity (applications, questions, claims): 25 months.
• Advertising records: 13 months, because advertisers may dispute a bill.
• Security and change logs: up to 7 years, and never editable.
• Your account: until you delete it.

Your rights

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act you can ask us to:

• Show you what we hold — we send a machine-readable copy, normally within 7 days and always within 30.
• Delete your account and personal data. Reviews and answers you wrote are anonymised rather than removed, so the discussion others relied on stays readable.
• Stop marketing email — one click in any email footer, effective immediately.
• Act for your child — a parent who holds the account can export or close it.

School pages

Pages about schools are built from public directory information and contain facts only — board, address, classes offered — never opinions we invented. If something is wrong, use Report incorrect information on the page. If you represent the school and want its page removed, use Request removal; approved removals are permanent and future data imports will not bring the page back.

Where your data sits

On servers in India, operated by APDigi. Backups are taken daily and are restore-tested.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we will say so on the site rather than quietly editing it.

Grievances

If we have not resolved something, write to support@apdigi.in with “Grievance” in the subject. We respond within 30 days as the law requires, and usually much sooner.
